AUTOMATED DOG FEEDER

This was a small personal project I attempted. I saw the need of an automated dog feeder during the times when our family dog needed to be fed during the daytime when often no one was at home. The existing dog feeders available at the market did not work for many reasons.

GOAL

  • Feeder serves single meal only

  • Audio/Visual aid to alert dog of feeding time

  • Able to be switched on & off

  • Feeder is placed off floor

As the pet would not be left alone overnight, there is no need for the dog feeder to serve more than a single meal quantity. An audio or a visual aid would be necessary to alert the dog in case he is not nearby. In cases where someone is at home, a switch to turn the machine on and off would be required as well. The most important design element would be that the feeder should be placed off the floor. This is necessary as the pet dog is a beagle pup, which are notorious for chewing through everything they possibly can. The puppy is also teething so it is important that he isn't able to do so.
